Ok, maybe i’m cynical, but I see the message in the new Superchunk video (yes! it’s true!) to be something along the lines of, “Stay the fuck out of our 90s jams, poseurs!”
This is a great song- so elastic and poptastic that you may need to blow some bubbles.Vodpod videos no longer available.
This song is off the new album, Majesty Shredding, out tomorrow. More info on the video at Videogum.
Ray Concepcion caught Twin Sister and mucked it all up with psychedelic, pulsating visuals. This is so BRAINY. By which I mean, your brain will only respond to what your pupils do. The timing is perfect, if you know what I mean. No more work after you watch this. It’ll be real hard.
I don’t know where/when Ray shot this, but it’s only been up for 4 days. Perhaps it was at the album release show at Glasslands on Friday.Vodpod videos no longer available.
The song is called “King Rat” and is off the band’s new EP, No One’s First, and You’re Next.
Check out the Heath Ledger conceived and directed video. The Modest Mouse song is actually pretty decent, with typical whelps from Isaac Brock and some nice banjo picking to boot. It then gets into some Beirut sounding horn playing, which isn’t original, but it sounds ok.
According to the band’s MySpace: “Heath’s vision, brave and unapologetic in its nature, would marry his love of bold and original music with his impassioned stance against the illegal commercial whale hunts taking place off the coast of Australia each year,” the band wrote. “Always one to operate from his heart and take a stand for what he cared deeply about, Heath’s intention was to raise awareness on modern whaling practices through a potent visual piece without having to say a word. It was his way to let the story, in its candid reversal, speak for itself.” Proceeds from Tunes downloads of the video will benefit the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, an international nonprofit marine wildlife conservation organization.

The sugar in their music is more concentrated than the brains of the kid down the block who snorts pixy stix while listening to Matt and Kim. Does that make sense??? My point is, only the kids who snort pixy stix have any excuse for listening to and enjoying the music this happy couple makes. No offense M and K, you’re infectious happy-punk has really caught on, and mad props to you for that. A note to the kids who like it though, and especially the adults, it’s time to give up snorting pixy stix. That shit hurts.
Oh, and I guess Matt and Kim get naked in their new video. But seriously what’s the point if it’s going to be fuzzed out anyway?
