Jules from Arches sent me this new song “Behind Closed Blinds,” a couple of days ago and I haven’t been able to stop listening to it.
It begins with a beautiful and light piano key shuffle, before the steady drum beat comes in to make the song a jam. Double tracked vocals, that are as clear as water, move fluidly with the musical notes. The whole thing feels like an inner-tube float down a river.
“Yes, we’ve grown but I still feel like a child that’s scared of the night.”
Like a youth, scared to take anything seriously, the song moves forward. It’s not a timid track, it’s just confident enough to make you believe that great things are possible. That’s what’s so great about indie-pop circa 2010, self-doubt touches every song, but there is always joy in hoping.

Jules says the band is working on a new LP, so we have that to look forward to.
