Weekly Tape Deck just posted two new jams from Florida by way of Jersey and Philly duo Arches. They are road trip songs, reflective and shimmering pop tunes that feel like sunlight on your arm and face. One song, “Another Fading Memory” features haunting vocals layered with echo, even a nice piano line here and there, which all makes for what some may call nostalgia. But when I hear a new band with a throwback sound, I cherish them in the here and now, there’s no backward glances. Just a crooked smile.

This song makes me feel like i’m on that hippie compound in “Easy Rider.” This song could be playing in the background of one of those scenes. Maybe when they’re all eating.

These guys want to play shows…
