Back in April and May it seemed everywhere you turned there was some info or quote from Michael Lang saying Woodstock in Brooklyn might happen. Hell, he was trying to get permits! It’s finally been confirmed that it’s not going to happen. Oh really?? Isn’t the Woodstock 40-year reunion coming up in 11 days? If you want to feel like you were there you can always go and see the Ang Lee film. View the trailer here, I think it looks good, actually.
If you want something a little more “real” head up to Woodstock for the Levon Helm Midnight Ramble. On the anniversary, Aug. 15, the Ramble will actually be held in Bethel at the Bethel Woods “Heroes of Woodstock” Music Festival. The Levon Helm band will play (though he won’t be singing, his voice is taxed, according to his website), and so will Big Brother and the Holding Company, a version of Jefferson Airplane (without Grace Slick, obviously), among others.
