“I’ll drink a case of you”

That’s a line stolen from Joni Mitchell’s “Case of You.” Lee uses it in one of his songs, “What We Know” off the upcoming Sonic Youth album, “The Eternal.”

It’s the best track on the album- dirty, gritty, pummeling and noisy. While many of the other tracks on the album are bogged down in some form of pretense, this song is just straight Lee. It’s straight Sonic Youth, too. Look here for a full review on Friday.

Pitchfork has some videos of Sonic Youth playing some of the new songs (and Schizophrenia, which is the shit even though it’s prettied up) in what looks like a basement. Check the “What We Know” video, you’ll see what I mean.

My copy is watermarked- so here is a live version of the song- thanks Jools Holland.
