Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth fame is what you might call an ever-performer. He’s always popping up to lend a hand, or two hands on a guitar in his case, to a dance project, a warehouse show, or a gig at Santos Party House, which is arguably the anti-indie venue. The drinks at Santos cost a shit-ton, but the sound is good, so hey…bring a flask? The show on Tuesday is only $5 if you RSVP….not a bad deal.
It’s always hard to tell whether Thurston will be playing noise or what. This gig is a showcase of sorts for his label Ecstatic Peace! and features other EP bands as well as Moore. My guess is he’ll be playing experimental shit. Maybe something like this, one of Thurston’s side-projects, Northampton Wools, a duo with Bill Nace. This was filmed in a basement in Northampton, Mass.
Bonus: Review of a show in Northampton where Thurston played the entirety of his solo album from 1995, “Psychic Hearts.”
