Gorgeous and beautiful and enchanting.
This is nothing like Best Coast, i’ll say that much. Three songs have surfaced from Bethany Sharayah, via Joe Coscarelli, via Pitchfork Reviews Reviews. This is why I love the Internet. Not sure how Bethany feels about these old songs being out there, but I doubt she cares much. She seems pretty confident.
These songs are so damn earnest and cute. Two of them, “Books I’ve Read” and “So, Mister” leave something to be desired, but “Underground” is pretty great. Sounds like old school Rilo Kiley, (yes, Joe!) and in 2003 “The Execution of all Things” ruled my life. (And when I put it on now, it still does.)
“And he’ll say, ‘Man, you’ve changed,’ and I’ll say, ‘Yeah, i’ve grown up,’ then he’ll say, ‘I love you, Bethany I love you!’”
So freaking cute.
All these songs can be downloaded at Bethany Sharayah‘s PureVolume page. Check out “Underground” below.
Bethany Sharayah: Underground
Ray Concepcion caught Twin Sister and mucked it all up with psychedelic, pulsating visuals. This is so BRAINY. By which I mean, your brain will only respond to what your pupils do. The timing is perfect, if you know what I mean. No more work after you watch this. It’ll be real hard.
I don’t know where/when Ray shot this, but it’s only been up for 4 days. Perhaps it was at the album release show at Glasslands on Friday.
I’m not a Crystal Castles fan. The music is a bit too trance for me. But maybe I should try it again. Whether or not this makes me biased or twisted, I’m going to give them a closer look now because one of my musical heroes is clearly and openly a fan. THURSTON MOORE.
He’s not a remix artist. So why did he do this?
While the original is a house party hit, complete with pulsating electronic effects and soaring angelic vocals, Moore’s treatment turns the song from dance dance to introspective think piece. It sounds like guitars take the place of some electronics, not surprisingly.
